Project Description

We provide court advocates to be present during legal proceedings
and help clients understand their legal rights.

Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs)

Emergency Temporary Protective Orders (ETPOs) are special protection orders that can be served to the perpetrator while in police custody for domestic violence. ETPOs are available through our 24-Hour Hotline, processed over the phone by a SafeNest advocate and transmitted to a judge for approval. The abusive party is then served with the order prior to being released from the mandatory 12-hour domestic-battery hold.

Temporary Protective Orders

Victims of domestic violence can apply to the court for a Temporary Protective Order of Protection — a civil court order issued to prevent continuing acts of domestic violence. These orders are used to keep the aggressor from further threats and/or harassment of the victim. Orders may also require the batterer to vacate a shared residence, provide temporary possession of a child and/or temporary spousal support.

U-Visa Support

The U VISA is a United States nonimmigrant visa which is set aside for victims of crimes (and their immediate family members) who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse and are willing to assist law enforcement and government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity.
